“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” – Eleanor Roosevelt
We never know when it’s going to hit, that feeling of “how did I get here?” Have you ever been driving along totally zoned out and then suddenly you’re in your driveway? Where was your head all of that time? You left one location and landed safely at your destination, but how? You hardly remember all of the stop signs, the traffic, or the detours you had to take. There is a moment when shake your head trying to wake up from your trance but still, you’re grateful that you made it home safely.
“How did I get here? I feel like I’ve been in a trance!” I have these moments often, more so in life than in the driveway.
How did I get here? Am I really a professional psychic medium? Do I really run a blog, do I really get to teach people how to develop their own gifts? I’m living my purpose and doing what I love daily. How did this happen?
It’s a weird feeling you know? To accomplish something and still question if it’s real…to question if you really did that.
I look back on life at all that I’ve manifested and I wonder how in the hell I did it. Most of the things I have achieved were never really dreams. They were more thoughts like “this is going to happen” and then even if it took years, it did. They say never tell people your goals until after you achieve them but hearing someone say “you can’t” has always pushed me to do better. So was I manifesting all along or was I just not taking no for an answer? I’m not sure but I think it’s a bit of both.
This site, this career, this business…it was never on my radar and it certainly wasn’t a dream. Yet here I am writing this article.
I’m in deep reflection today as I own my “driveway moment.” How did I get here? One year ago today I said goodbye to my safe and stable corporate job to become a professional medium. It was the biggest leap of faith I’ve ever taken and the scariest thing I’ve ever done.
Who gave me the courage and capability to make that leap? You did. Spirit did.
When I started this blog I hid my true identity for months because I was scared of what people might think. After a while, I started receiving dozens of emails asking for my help. You guys supported me and requested that I share with you my “how-to’s”. I couldn’t work one on one if I didn’t come clean about who I was so I was pushed out of my comfort zone and into who I really am. Thus Ashley Strong Psychic Medium came out of the psychic closet.
Eventually, things grew to the point where I had a decision to make. I could either stop this altogether or go all in. I didn’t have time to live a double life anymore and it wasn’t serving myself or anyone else for me to do so.
So many times while building this site I wanted to give up. One time, in particular, I almost did.
I was sitting on my laptop at 8:00 PM after working a 9 hour day, crying tears of frustration. My old site couldn’t handle the traffic so I had to build my own custom site. The problem? I didn’t know a thing about website building and there I was trying to figure it all out on my couch hitting roadblock after roadblock.
“Why don’t you just stop this for a while? Obviously it’s too much for you and you can’t handle it. It’s not something you have to do so why don’t you just focus on work and give yourself a break” – my husband said with good intentions
“This is the only thing I have that is mine. Just mine, no one else’s. No one else has any say in what I do or say. I’m helping people I can’t just quit now!” – me
Had he not told me that it was “too much for me” I might have given up. Five minutes before he said those words I was seriously considering it! But, because of who I am that was just the push that I needed. The push that made me realize I had built this from scratch and I wasn’t about to quit now. Spirit did that…spirit does that.
They push us and test us until we think we can’t take anymore and then BAM! Something or someone triggers us to keep it moving.
Throughout life and career, we all hopefully have these monumental moments. Then, once we arrive at our destination, planned or unplanned, we can look back and say how did I get here? We then remember those pivotal moments.
It’s easy to forget the detours, the roadblocks, and the stop signs. It’s even easier to forget the small wins and breadcrumb trails that got us to where we are today. Be thankful for all of those moments no matter how big, how small, or how seemingly detrimental they were at the time. Those moments got you to where you are now and you’re stronger because of it.
I am so humbled and so honored to have been granted the opportunity to live my purpose full-time. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who has made this a possibility and allowed to this happen. I’m living my purpose and I am here to help you find yours.
Cheers to one year living “our dream”!
